Freedom to Be in Great Health
July in the United States of America brings visions of 4th of July parades, backyard barbecues and picnics in the park, all winding down with impressive firework displays and patriotic music. A day to remember our country’s beginnings. A day to appreciate our nation’s freedoms.
Until. This. Year.
2020 has ushered in an entirely new set of standards and restrictions stemming from the Corona Virus outbreak earlier in the year. Most people’s celebrating styles have been greatly revised, if not completely revoked. It is a new season. One that will be remembered.
I am grateful for my freedom as an American born citizen. My ancestors struggled and sacrificed to reach America’s shores in the early 1900 s and experience freedom. Their exodus from communist Russia was not an easy one. Perhaps, I’ve taken much for granted.
One area of “fighting for my freedom” in which I have stayed the course for a few decades is my health and wellness. I learned volumes from my German grandmothers about using Nature’s foods not only for flavor, but for healing and restoration as well as preventive and immune building.
I value the freedom to choose the methods necessary to maintain a vibrant wellness-style (prescription-free, symptom and pain free). Many of Grandma’s home remedies of yesteryear continue to provide relief today. I also value my wellness-care providers. They support my holistic maintenance approach and serve me in the areas that are beyond my scope of personal care. I appreciate this wellness partnership.
There may be new rules and regulations surrounding us in this “unprecedented” time, and that may be all the more reason to seek out simpler solutions to maintaining optimal health and living in freedom. Freedom to sleep soundly through the night. Freedom to wake up energized and ready to enjoy an active day. Freedom from digestive distress. Freedom from chronic discomforts (migraines, joint immobility, fatigue, etc.): Freedom to BE in great health!
Here are a few basic (simple-solutions) steps you may find helpful to bring you into a healthier, more vibrant and freeing lifestyle:
• Enjoy the sunrise (about 5:36-am in Colorado) with slow deep breathing exercises
• Stay well hydrated throughout the day
• Eat fresh! *see last week’s Blog
• Stay active––without a Covid19 mask when possible––your lungs and brain need oxygen!
• Savor sound sleep. Maintain a consistent sleep schedule, even in the summer
• Appreciate & Be grateful even during stressful seasons
• Share an encouraging word-thought-compliment-suggestion to promote health in others
• Support groups that support freedom of choice in matters of health and wellness
It’s going to be a hot day. Pour a glass of freshly squeezed lemonade or enjoy a slice of watermelon and celebrate all your freedoms!
